LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and junior guard Edgar Sosa met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Yum! Center to preview Wednesday's game against the University of South Florida. The Cards and Bulls will tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN2.
Louisville will play its first BIG EAST Conference game of the new year and their sixth straight nationally televised game. U of L beat intrastate rival Kentucky 74-71 in Freedom Hall on Sunday in the Cards' final non-conference outing of the season. Edgar Sosa, who scored 18 points in the game, buried a 25-foot three-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining for the game winner.
USF (5-8) has won two of its last five games, but fell 59-54 to Syracuse at home in its BIG EAST Conference opener as Dominique Jones led the Bulls with 17 points and three steals in that game while hitting 4-of-8 three-point goals. Jones, who leads the team with 17.1 points per game, scored a career-high 36 points in his previous game against Iona on Dec. 27.
