Louisville, Ky. - BIG EAST......
It is that time of year again when we must be ready to play every night. This season, the BIG EAST is better than it has ever been. At times, the league has had six or seven teams ranked in the Top 25, while four teams are currently ranked in the Top 15. I am very excited about another challenging season.
As I write today, we are 14-1 and ranked 10th in the Associated Press poll. We just won our first BIG EAST game at home 78-60 against a very good DePaul team. Both teams played very hard and gave it everything they had. We had four players score in double figures and had a very balanced offensive attack. We have been getting great point guard play from Des Byrd the entire season. She had eight assists and only one turnover in the game.
Seton Hall will be a tough test for us tomorrow night home for our second conference game. I am expecting a hard fought game from start to finish. After that, we will play our final home game of this 10-game home stand versus Rutgers at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11. We are hoping to pack the house again for this game. I hope everyone will be able to make it because we will need the support against a tough opponent.
I am sorry I didn't get a Blog up over the Holidays, but I was kept busy by my two children. My daughter Kaeley is three and our son, Jacob, just turned two on Dec. 21. They were really excited about Christmas. Since they were a good boy and girl, they got some presents from Santa. We even put some food out for Santa's reindeer since they had to work so hard all night. Kaeley thought they might be hungry.
It was a wonderful Christmas as we were able to spend quality time with our families. In the middle of the season it is not always easy to get home and play with the kids so I tried to take advantage of every second I could over the break. We played downstairs with the toys that Santa brought and even got outside to ride the new scooters since the weather was so nice.
I hope you had a great Holiday and be sure to keep following us as we continue our journey through the BIG EAST.
Be Good, Be Safe and Be Yourself!
