LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and junior forward Earl Clark met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Yum! Center to preview Wednesday's game against Rutgers. The No. 9 ranked Cardinals and Scarlet Knights will tip off at 7:02 p.m. ET at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, N.J. in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPNU.
Louisville will play its first of two straight on the road and their 10th straight nationally televised game. The Cards have won five straight, including a 69-63 victory over top-ranked and previously unbeaten Pittsburgh on Jan. 17. Clark had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Terrence Williams scored 20 for U of L. Clark leads the team with 13.9 points per game, while Williams is grabbing a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game.
Rutgers (9-9, 0-5 BIG EAST) has lost six straight, but five of those six came to nationally ranked opponents. The Scarlet Knights lost at Cincinnati 71-59 on Jan. 14 in their last outing. Anthony Farmer led four Rutgers players in double figures with 12 points. Mike Rosario is the top freshman scorer in the BIG EAST Conference at 17.1 points per game.
