Freshman Kyle Kuric recorded a career-high three rebounds tonight versus Pittsburgh. His previous high was two, which he did three other times this season (the last coming on 12/18/08 versus Minnesota).
The Cardinals faced the Panthers who entered the game ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Poll. It's the seventh time in school history that the Cardinals have faced the No. 1 team in the nation. The Cardinals have won three of those games, including their last two games a win over Pittsburgh tonight and a 73-65 win over Florida on 12/13/2003 in Freedom Hall.
Today's crowd of 20,082 was the fifth largest in the history of Freedom Hall.
Junior Earl Clark recorded his 18th career double-double and eighth this season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. It was Clark's eighth double-double in his last 14 contests. Clark has scored in double figures in 20 of his last 22 games dating back to last season and for the 43rd time in his career. He also blocked three shots to give him 99 for his career.
With three three-point field goals, senior Terrence Williams moved into sixth-place on the school's all-time three-point field goals made list with 161, passing Everick Sullivan (1988-92).
Williams scored more than 20 points for the second straight game, recording 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Williams scored 24 points in Louisville's win over Notre Dame on Monday. It's the fourth time this season that Williams scored 20 or more points.
With the win over No. 1 Pittsburgh and a win over No. 13 Notre Dame on Monday, the Cardinals defeated ranked teams in consecutive games for the first time since last season when they No. 16 Marquette and No. 6 Georgetown in back-to-back games in February. Louisville is 3-0 against ranked foes this season.
Louisville has held 11 teams below their season field goal percentage this season. The Panthers entered the game shooting 47.8 percent from the floor. However, the Cardinals held Pittsburgh to just 34.9 percent shooting from the floor. The Cardinals have held nine opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the floor, including three of its last four.
With 18 turnovers, the Cardinals have committed fewer turnovers than their opponents in 13 of 16 games. The Cardinals forced Pittsburgh into 20 turnovers.
