LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville football head coach Steve Kragthorpe met with members of the media on Monday to preview this week's game against Tennessee Tech. The Cards and Golden Eagles will meet on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville and the game will be televised locally by WHAS-TV.
The Cards and Golden Eagles are meeting for the first time since the 1961 season and the overall series is tied at 1-1. U of L enters the game at 0-1 following a 27-2 season-opening loss to rival Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in Louisville. Tennessee Tech is 1-0 after a 28-12 win over Gardner-Webb last Thursday. The Golden Eagles are led by quarterback Lee Sweeney, who originally signed with the Cards in 2005 before transferring.
The Series - U of L and Tennessee Tech
Saturday afternoon's game against Tennessee Tech will be the third meeting ever between these two schools with the series tied at 1-1. Tech captured the first meeting in the series 21-7 in 1960, while the Cards pulled out a 29-13 win over the Golden Eagles the following season.
