Louisville, Ky. - Practice number eight is in the books for the University of Louisville football team, as the Cardinals went through one workout on Tuesday afternoon.
Practicing in full pads, the Cardinals conducted a 24-period practice that saw a lot of good things on both sides of the football.
The defense was disruptive during inside run. The running backs found a tough way to go. Senior Earl Heyman is really primed for a tremendous senior season. He is in the best shape of his career and is taking personal last year's 6-6 record.
The linebacking play has been a pleasant surprise. Senior Mozell Axson and junior Chris Campa have been extremely physical, while freshman Dexter Heyman continues to compete. Heyman got the best of Joe Tronzo in an 11-on-11 drill and sacked the quarterback.
In the passing drills, Scott Long made an acrobatic catch down the sideline over two defenders.
On the goal line, Victor Anderson and Darius Ashley made a couple of impressive runs for scores. Ashley is very shifty and runs well behind his pads. Hunter Cantwell and Matt Simms threw short touchdown passes.
The Cardinals will hit the field for a pair of practices on Wednesday. The team will go at 9:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.
