Honors Bestowed at Spring Sports Banquet

The University of Louisville awarded its top honors April 21 at the annual Spring Sports Banquet held in the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.

The banquet, which featured a number of video montages of the best footage from all sports for the year, and including a senior salute, awarded the best male and female athlete from each class as well as the Adidas Athlete of the Year for best overall athletes.

For the men, there was a tie for the Adidas Athlete of the Year with cross country runner Wesley Korir and golfer Derek Fathauer sharing the honor. Women's basketball star Angel McCoughtry got the nod for the women.

The Ed Kallay Award, the highest honor the athletic department bestows is given to the male and female senior athlete who excells on the field, the classroom with a special emphasis on community service and character. Women's soccer goalie Joanna Haig and football quarterback Brian Brohm were the recipients this year. Robyn White, of women's tennis was awarded the Most Inspirational Award.
