
Softball Travels to South Florida

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will travel to league-leader South Florida for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26.
About Louisville: The Cardinals (25-18, 9-5) currently stand tied for fifth in the conference with Pittsburgh. Both teams have 10-6 league records. Still on the schedule are No. 1 South Florida (14-2) and No. 2 Connecticut (11-3). DePaul and Notre Dame are tied for third.
The Cards are led offensively by sophomore catcher Melissa Roth who is hitting .372 with 36 runs, 18 doubles and six stolen bases. Freshman 3B Chelsea Bemis follows with a .317 average, and a team-leading five home runs and 45 RBI. Senior 1B Sarah Totten is hitting .301 and Freshman Colby Wherry closely follows with a .300 average.
Sophomore Kristen Wadwell (14-11) carries a 2.15 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 182.1 innings of work.
Up Last: The Cardinals took a break from league play with a 4-0 win over host Indiana on Wednesday. Louisville used a three-run sixth inning and Brittany York's solo homer in the seventh behind Kristen Wadwell's complete game shutout in the 4-0 victory.

The Cards also swept the Bulls in the regular season doubleheader in Tampa.In game one, the teams were tied at 1-1 through eight innings before Brooke McCrain's two-run single gave the Cards a 3-1 lead. USF's Lauren Rodriguez drew a pinch hit walk and scored on Britta Giddens' RBI single. USF had runners on the corners with two out, but Louisville's Kristen Wadwell retired the final batter to get the 3-2 win. In game two, Courtney Moore went 3 for 3 with three RBI as the Cards completed the sweep with a 5-4 win.
Scouting the Bulls: USF enters the weekend with a 40-15 overall record and standing first in the BIG EAST at 14-2. Kit Dunbar leads the Bulls and the conference with a .398 average. JoJo Medina is hitting .322 with seven home runs and 31 RBI.
Courtney Mosch (16-6) carries a 1.38 ERA with 108 strikeouts in 152.0 innings, while Capri Catalano has had an impressive freshman campaign with a perfect 14-0 record and a league-leading 0.88 ERA with 144 Ks in 103.2 innings of work.
