
Louisville Lacrosse to Host Connecticut Saturday Afternoon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville lacrosse team will continue their six-game home stand on Saturday against future BIG EAST foe Connecticut at 1 p.m. ET, at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Admission is free and the first 50 fans entering the gates will receive free lacrosse umbrellas.
The Cards enter the game at 7-4 overall following last Sunday's 21-18 home loss to BIG EAST foe Loyola. Connecticut will be the third straight opponent for the Cards from the BIG EAST. The Louisville lacrosse team, which will compete as a BIG EAST member in 2009, also lost to top 10 ranked and conference foe Georgetown on March 30.
The Huskies enter the game at 1-12 overall following an 18-8 loss to Boston College on Wednesday night in Mass. The Huskies have lost three straight overall, with their lone win coming on March 30 against UC Davis (16-9).
The loss to Loyola gave the Cards their first back-to-back losses in their inaugural season and dropped their home record to 3-2. U of L opened 2008 with three straight wins at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. First-year attacker Bergan Foley led Louisville in the losing effort against Loyola with six goals, taking her season total to 46 through the Cards' first 11 games. Overall, Foley ranks third in the nation in goals per game this week at 4.18 per contest and she has led the Cards in scoring in each of their first 11 games.
Also ranking in the top 10 in the nation this week for Louisville is first-year midfielder Brittany Poist, who ranks second in caused turnovers with 2.73 per game and ninth in ground balls with 3.36 per contest. First-year midfielder Emily Dashiell ranks seventh in draw controls with 3.55 per game.
As a team, the Cards rank 10th in the nation in scoring offense at 14.44 goals per game and 10th in draw controls at 14.64 per contest. Louisville is also just outside the top 10 in scoring margin, ranking 11th overall at +4.55.
Following Saturday's game, the Cards will continue their six-game home stand on Monday, April 14 against UC Davis at 3 p.m. ET. Admission is free for all Louisville lacrosse games and all games are played at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium, located on S. Floyd St., next door to the Yum! Center.
