Women's Tennis Tips Middle Tennessee 4-1

The No. 40-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team tipped Middle Tennessee 4-1 in a shortened format in Murfreesboro Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals moved their season record to 13-5.

With rain expected, the teams moved indoors to a four-court facility where U of L took the doubles point. The No. 1 pair of Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea struck first with an 8-1 win over Marlene Chemin and Stephanie Parkison. Lindsey Jones and Jo-Ann Van Aerde took their match 8-5 at No. 2 over A.K. Siljestrom and Claudia Szabo to clinch the point.

In singles, Robyn White scored the next point for the Cardinals. She handled Middle's No. 4 Marlene Chemin 6-4, 6-2 to take the Cardinals to a 2-0 lead. Bianca Gorbea pushed the score to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Claudia Szabo. Lindsey Jones clinched the match with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over Stephanie Parkison. A.K. Siljestrom scored Middle's only point with a three set win over Lauren Imre at No. 1.
