MURRELS INLET, S.C. - - Senior Derek Fathauer posted strong opening rounds on Sunday to lead Lopuisville into third place at the General Jim Hackler Championship. As a team, the Cardinals shot 305-296=601 (+25) at the par-72, 6,950-yard TPC of Myrtle Beach to trail tournament-leader and host Coastal Carolina by 12 strokes heading into tomorrow's final round of play.
Fathauer got off to a slow start on Sunday with a first-round score of 74. He followed that up with a 71 in the second round for 145. He stands in second place overall. Duke will begin final round play at 9:40 a.m. on the front side of the TPC of Myrtle Beach on Monday. The Blue Devils will be paired with Coastal Carolina and Louisville.
Adam Hadwin is tied for 18th overall after shooting 74-77=151 and Adam Rainaud is tied for 25th with 78-74=152.
Daryl Fathauer shot 80-74=154 to stand in 32nd-place overall and Lewis Kirton is tied for 49th after shooting 79-78=157.
Final round action begins Monday morning at 9:40. The Cardinals are paired with Coastal Carolina and Duke.
