LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and senior center David Padgett met with members of the media Thursday at the Yum! Center to preview Sunday's BIG EAST road game at Pittsburgh. The No. 18-ranked Cardinals and Panthers will tip off at noon ET at Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the game will be televised by ESPN Plus and WHAS-TV in Louisville.
The Cards enter Sunday's game at 21-6 overall and atop the BIG EAST standings with an 11-3 conference record following Monday's 61-50 home win over Syracuse, U of L's sixth straight win. Juniors Terrence Williams and Andre McGee led the Cards with 12 points each in the win over the Orange.
Pittsburgh, at 19-6 overall and 7-5 in BIG EAST play, will face a strong challenge tonight at No. 21 Notre Dame. Four Panthers average scoring in double figures, led by 6-6 junior Sam Young (17.9 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and 6-7 freshman DeJuan Blair (11.6 ppg, 9.4 apg). Levance Fields returned to action in last Friday's loss to Marquette after missing 12 games with a broken foot. Pitt is among the nation's leaders in rebound margin (+6.6, 15th in the NCAA), scoring margin (+11.3, 31st) and turnovers (12.6, 31st).
