The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked 15th nationally in field goal percentage defense, limited Rutgers to just 32.7 shooting from the floor. The Scarlet Knights were the 12th team that the Cardinals held under 40.0 percent shooting from the floor.

Junior Terrence Williams and sophomore Earl Clark each recorded double-doubles. Williams recorded his 11th career double-double and the fourth this season, while Clark registered the eighth of his career -- all coming this season. The Cardinals now have 14 total double-doubles this season. It's the third time this season that the Cardinals have multiple double-doubles in a game.

The Cardinals limited Rutgers to 50 points, marking the 12th different opponent that was held to less than 60 points in a game, including nine of the last 12. Louisville entered the game ranked 28th in the nation in scoring defense. It also marked the lowest output for an opponent since the Cardinals joined the BIG EAST. Louisville held St. John's to 48 points on 1/21/07.

The Cardinals connected on 11-of-28 three-pointers in the game, marking the sixth time this season that Louisville has hit 10 or more trifectas in a game. They nailed 11 in a loss to Connecticut last Monday and have hit 22 in the last two games.

The Cardinals limited Rutgers to 18 first-half points, the lowest output by an opponent since Marquette scored on 1/17/08.

Freshman Lee Steiden scored his first field goal of his collegiate career with 1:23 left in the game against Rutgers.

The Cardinals have won four straight at Freedom Hall.
