
Pitino Previews Saturday's BIG EAST Game at Providence

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and senior center David Padgett met with members of the media Thursday at the Yum! Center to preview Saturday's BIG EAST road game at Providence. The No. 23 ranked Cardinals and Friars will tip off at 2 p.m. ET at Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
The Cards enter the weekend at 19-6 overall and in second place in the BIG EAST Conference standings with a 9-3 league mark following Tuesday night's 88-68 road win over DePaul, their fourth straight win overall. Terrence Williams and David Padgett scored 22 and 20 points respectively to lead the way as Louisville shot a season-high 58.1 percent from the field and totaled 27 assists and 10 steals.
Providence enters the game at 13-11 overall and 4-8 in BIG EAST play following an 82-63 loss at Pittsburgh on Tuesday as Marshon Brooks scored 15 points off the bench to lead the Friars. Five Providence players average scoring in double figures, led by 6-1 junior Jeff Xavier (12.5 ppg), who has hit 63-of-167 three-point goals this season (.377), and versatile 6-7 junior Geoff McDermott (10.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 4.8 apg).
