With a 3-0 record in the first Marques Maybin Classic, the Cardinals won their 24th regular season tournament championship. Louisville won the Billy Minardi Classic earlier this season.
The Cardinals moved to 5-0 on the season at home in Freedom Hall.
Senior Earl Clark was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, averaging 13.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg in the Cardinals' three wins.
The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked second in the nation in 3-point percentage defense, held Lamar to just 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from behind the arc.
Entering the game ranked fifth in the nation in scoring defense, the Cardinals held Lamar to just 56 points on 19-of-54 (35.2) shooting from the floor. Louisville held all three opponents in the Marques Maybin Classic to less than 60 points in a game.
Freshman Samardo Samuels scored in double figures for the sixth straight game to open his U of L career. He tallied 15 points on 6-of-10 from the field.
Senior Terrance Williams recorded a season-high 13 rebounds and averaged 10.0 rpg for the entire three-game tournament.
For the second straight game, freshman Terrance Jennings tied his career-high with six points today versus Lamar. Jennings also added six points yesterday versus Ohio. In the two games, Jennings was 6-of-8 from the floor, going 3-of-4 in both contests.
