Junior Jerry Smith recorded a season-high for rebounds in a game with seven, besting his previous mark of five against Mississippi on 12/18/08.
The Cardinals got off to a slow start from the field against UNLV. Louisville didn't record its first field goal until 11:31 left (a span of 8:29) in the first half when Edgar Sosa scored on a goal-tending call. The Cardinals recorded its first field goal that actually went through the net on a jumper by Preston Knowles with 7:25 remaining, making the Cardinals 2-17 from the field at the time. The Cardinals were just 6-for-26 (23.1) in the first half from the floor.
Sophomore guard Preston Knowles scored in double figures with 11 points for just the third time this season, and the first since scoring a career-high 21 points versus Austin Peay on 12/13/08. Against UNLV, Knowles was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Knowles scored eight of his 11 points in the second half.
Senior Terrence Williams recorded his fourth game this season with four or more steals. Williams notched five in today's game versus the Rebels.
Louisville out-rebounded UNLV, 38-27, marking the seventh time in the last eight games that U of L had a double-digit rebound advantage over its opponent.
Louisville notched its first lead of the game at 48:47 with 4:31 remaining in the second half on a pair of free throws by senior Terrence Williams.
Senior Andre McGee tied a season-high with three three-point field goals. McGee was 3-for-5 for the game from behind the arc. He also hit three versus Lamar on 12/8 and UAB on 12/27. He has six trifectas in the last two games.
The Cardinals shot 29.6 percent from the field in the loss versus UNLV, marking the second time this season that Louisville shot below 30.0 percent from the floor. The Cardinals shot 26.8 percent in a loss to Western Kentucky on 11/30/08.
