LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and junior forward Earl Clark met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Yum! Center to preview Wednesday's game against UNLV. The Cards and Runnin' Rebels will tip off at 6:00 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall on ESPN2.
Louisville will close out 2008 with its second of three straight at home as the Cardinals face UNLV in Freedom Hall on New Year's Eve. Louisville has won six of its last seven games, including beating UAB 82-62 last Saturday. The Cards made 11-of-27 three-pointers against the Blazers, UofL's fifth time this season with nine or more threes.
UNLV (11-2) has won six straight, including beating Southern Utah 73-60 on Dec. 23 in its last outing as Rene Rougeau's 16 points and three blocked shots led the Runnin' Rebels. Among UNLV's wins was a 79-64 victory vs. Arizona on Dec. 20. UNLV has been off for eight days between games. Senior guard Wink Adams, the Runnin' Rebels top scorer at 14.1 points per game, suffered an abdominal strain in the Dec. 23 game and is questionable for the game.
