
Pitino, Swopshire Preview Saturday's Visit to Northern Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and freshman forward Jared Swopshire met with members of the media on Thursday at the Yum! Center to preview Saturday's exhibition finale at Northern Kentucky. The Cards and Norse will tip off at 8:06 p.m. ET at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, Ky., and the game will be televised by WHAS-TV in Louisville.
Louisville will play its second game of the 2008-09 season against outside competition as the Cardinals visit Northern Kentucky in an exhibition game on Saturday. It will be the first game for the Norse in their new Bank of Kentucky Center. Northern Kentucky, which posted a 21-8 mark and captured the GLVC East Division championship, is ranked fourth nationally in the Division II Bulletin preseason poll. This is the first exhibition game of the season for the Norse, which will play at Cincinnati in their next outing on Nov. 11.
Swopshire has made all 11 of his free throw attempts in the Cardinals' intrasquad scrimmage and exhibition game. He posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds in the 74-67 exhibition win over Georgetown College.
The Cardinals tip off the regular season campaign at home on Saturday, Nov. 22 against Morehead State in the first of two games of the Billy Minardi Classic. The game time will be announced at a later date pending the kick off time for U of L's home football game against West Virginia.
