LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville football head coach Steve Kragthorpe and senior center Eric Wood met with members of the media on Monday to preview this week's home finale against West Virginia. The Cards and Mountaineers will meet on Saturday at noon ET at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
The Cardinals enter the game at 5-5 overall and 1-4 in BIG EAST play after last Friday's 28-20 home loss to Cincinnati. After Louisville extended their lead to 20-14 with a Ryan Payne field goal in the third quarter, the Bearcats regained the lead for good at 21-20 on Dominick Goodman's 23-yard touchdown reception from Dustin Grutza. The win snapped a five-game winning streak for the Cards over Cincinnati.
West Virginia enters Saturday's game at 6-3 overall and 3-1 in BIG EAST play. The Mountaineers have not played since dropping a 26-23 overtime decision to Cincinnati on Nov. 8 in Morgantown, which snapped a five-game winning streak. WVU is led by quarterback Pat White (1,104 yds passing, 586 yds rushing) and running back Noel Divine (967 yds rushing).
