
10th Ranked Cardinals Open the Season at Tennessee Tech

Cookeville, Tenn. - The 10th ranked Louisville women's basketball team will travel to Cookeville, Tenn. for the season opener against Tennessee Tech on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The Cardinals have won their last two season-openers on the road while head coach Jeff Walz is perfect in season-openers.
The Cardinals are led by seniors Candyce Bingham and Angel McCoughtry. The seniors were both named among the Top 5 players in their position by ESPN.com earlier this week. McCoughtry led the team in scoring and rebounding last season with 23.8 points and 8.9 rebounds. Bingham was second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Tennessee Tech finished last season with an 8-22 overall record while finishing ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles return just two starters and four letterwinners from last season. Sophomore Jasmine White led the Golden Eagles in scoring in the exhibition game with 18 points. White was named the team's Most Valuable Player last season. She also led the team in rebounding with seven.
The series is tied between the two teams at 1-1 with each team winning at home. It will be the first meeting since the 1982-83 season.
