WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After two days of qualifying and prequalifying matches, the main singles draw of 64 will begin Friday morning at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament, hosted by Wake Forest at the Indoor Tennis Center.
University of Louisville senior Lindsey Jones was the only Cardinal to survive prequalifying winners to post two victories in the qualifying draw, earning a slot in the main singles event.
The Cardinals have two doubles pairs alive with Bianca Gorbea and Natalia Baez earning a bye. Lindsey Jones and Jo-Ann Van Aerde won and will advance as well.
"Lindsey came out and played extremely competitive tennis and fought off three match point in her first match and then won 6-4 in the third set," said Mark Beckham, U of L head coach. "She played a very tough opponent in the second match from North Carolina."
