
Women's Tennis Edged by No. 26 Kentucky

The University of Louisville women's tennis team was edged 4-3 by No. 26 ranked Kentucky Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington, Wednesday afternoon.
"We played well today and I have to give Kentucky credit," said first -year coach Mark Beckham. "We gave it our best effort. Our team has greatness ahead of us. We are doing the right things, we just have to take the next step and beat these elite-level teams and I believe we are capable of doing just that."
The Cardinals battled to a win of the doubles point when the No. 2 pair of Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea beat Sara Woestmann and Megan Broderick 8-2. Robyn White and Jo-Ann Van Aerde combined to win No. 3 doubles with a 8-4 win over Alaina Trgovich and Whitney Spencer.
The Cats regrouped in singles play with No. 69-ranked Sara Woestmann being Lauren Imre 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. Lindsey Jones fell in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 to Megan Broderick. At. No. 3 singles, Bianca Gorbea tried to push to a third set but fell 6-1, 7-6 (5). At. No. 4 Robyn White fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in the other three setter of the day to Christine Johnson. U of L got a point from Natalia Baez who outlasted Carolina Escamilla 6-3, 7-5. Jo-Ann Van Aerde won her second match of the day with a 4-3 (ret.) win over Whitney Spencer.
