
Bishop Selected to Australian National Team

University of Louisville softball pitcher Catherine Bishop has been selected to play for the Australian National Team in the Canada Cup which will take place in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada June 30-July 8.
Bishop is one of 17 players selected to participate in the Canada Cup - one of the premier elite level international fastpitch tournaments in the world. This will be her third appearance in the Canada Cup for the Australia.
Bishop has also been selected as one of 15 players invited to play in the World University Games which will take place August 7-17 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The senior from Adelaide, Australia is a four-year starter at U of L. She currently leads the team with a 2.19 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 108.2 innings. The two-time captain holds several career records including most wins (67), most saves (8), most shutouts (28) and most strikeouts (596). She also holds the school single season record for wins with 30 and lowest earned run average with 0.78.
Catherine has collected many awards in her career including 2006 BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, and was named to National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region second team as well as the 2007 ASA Top 50 Players to Watch List. She is also a two-time All-Conference selection, earning the honor in both the BIG EAST and Conference USA.
U of L (30-21) currently stands tied for second place in the BIG EAST with an 11-5 league record. The Cards travel to Evansville for a single game Wednesday at 5 p.m .and will close out the regular season at Seton Hall Saturday and St. John's Sunday.
