The No. 71 University of Louisville women's tennis team upended Xavier, 6-1, Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Louisville improves to 9-12 overall. Xavier falls to 10-6 in dual play.

The Cardinals began the day sweeping doubles play. Lauren Imre and Robyn White defeated Kara Courtney and Jackie Vilines at No. 1 in a close 9-8 (3) match. U of L's Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea beat Annie Diedalis and Jill Ducro at No. 2 8-4, while Cardinals Natalie Laszkowski and Jo-Ann Van Aerde secured the No. 3 match overcoming Kate Lohner and Jeanette Feider.

In singles play, Imre won in straight sets over Vilines, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1. Laszkowski beat Ducro at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1. White pulled out a close match over Zinn, 2-6, 6-4, (12-10). At No. 4. Baez beat XU's Feider at No. 5, 6-4, 6-4. Van Aerde downed Alicia Papa, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6. Gorbea suffered the Cardinals' only loss to Courtney at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.

Louisville continues play in Orlando, Fla., when they face University of Central Florida on Monday.
