Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
"That was a great stretch in the first half. The ball movement was great, rebounding, defense, the fast break. We haven't got out that many times in a fast break in a long time primarily because teams like Georgetown, Villanova, really play it tight; use the clock a little bit. It was fun to see that type of passing, that type of shooting, that type of ball movement. We played with great confidence and did a terrific job against South Florida because they've been playing great basketball as of late."
(On Brandon Jenkins) "He's been showing sings that he's busting out in practice, he hasn't shown it in the games, but his athleticism is back now, where he jumps up and dunks it backwards. He's being very aggressive. I'm really happy for him, but he was doing a terrific job of moving the ball and showing leadership there."
(On Derrick Character) "I expected on playing him maybe four or five minutes because he's not in shape, but the thing you have to realize is he's working out with Ellis on the elliptical, the treadmill all the time. So to make his weight, he's a guy coming in trying to burn 2000 calories a day. He's not out of shape but he's tired from all these machines. He did a good job. I didn't expect David Padgett to get hurt obviously, he got a good little bit of chances and an opportunity to play."
(On David Padgett's injury) "We thought at first it was a fifth metatarsal fracture, or whatever they call it. It wasn't so we were very happy about that, so hopefully he'll be ok by tomorrow and can play on Monday.
(On Derrick's Play) "He, like Earl (Clark), is an extremely slow learner. It's just going to come slow for him, but he's got to move his feet. He did a decent job tonight because he's not always going to play against a guy like Melvin (Buckley). That was a perfect guy for him to play against. They could kill each other."
USF Head Coach Robert McCullum
"Certainly wasn't the kind start we wanted to get off to. Of course Louisville had a lot to do with that. I felt we came out for some strange reason as if we wanted to go up and down with Louisville was not part of our game plan -- that obviously was a mistake. When you turned the ball over 12 times in one half, you don't defend a three point shot any better than we did and they made nine of 12. The results are going to be what they were. I didn't think it was difficult for what we needed to do to come in and give ourselves a chance to win. But defending the three and taking care of the ball against their press, unfortunately in the first half, we did neither of those things."
