Louisville, Ky. - Senior wide receiver Harry Douglas of the University of Louisville was named a second team All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday.
Douglas, who was also named first team All-BIG EAST Conference for the second straight season, caught a career-best 71 passes for 1,159 yards and seven touchdowns this season in leading the Cardinals to a 6-6 record.
The native of Jonesboro, Ga., led the BIG EAST Conference in receptions per game and receiving yards per game. He also finished 13th and third, respectively, nationally in both of those categories.
"It's a great honor to be recognized as an All-American," said Douglas. "I missed two games due to injury, so its very gratifying for me to earn this accolade. I'm disappointed that we missed a bowl game, but this is a great ending to my senior season."
Despite missing two games with an injury, Douglas became just the third player in school history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He recorded consecutive 200-yard games against Kentucky and Syracuse in September.
In a 40-34 loss to Kentucky, Douglas set a school record with 223 yards on 13 receptions. He followed that up with 205 yards against Syracuse in a 38-35 loss to the Orange.
The 5-10 senior finished second all-time in school history with 2,924 yards receiving and fifth all-time in receptions with 173.
Douglas is scheduled to play in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, January 26.
Douglas is the first U of L player to earn second team AP honors since Art Carmody and Amobi Okoye earned the same accolades in 2006.
