Louisville Notes
- With his first quarter field goal, senior placekicker Art Carmody became the NCAA's all-time career points leader for a kicker with 433, breaking Roman Anderson's mark of 423. Anderson played for the University of Houston from 1988-91. Carmody finished has produced career totals of booting 60-of-73 field goals and hitting 253-of-255 extra point kicks. Carmody holds the NCAA record for consecutive extra points in a season with 77 during the 2004 season, and completed his career connecting on his last 112 consecutive successful kicks. His 33 yard field goal with 0:20 remaining was the game-winner.
- QB Brian Brohm set a new school record with 30 passing touchdowns this season (Chris Redman threw 29 TDs in both 1998 and 1999). Brohm also recorded his ninth career rushing touchdown, which ties him with Dave Ragone for third place all-time in school history for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. Brohm finished the game with career totals of completing 780 of 1,185 passes for 10,775 yards and 65 touchdowns.
- Freshman RB Bilal Powell rushed for a career-high 91 yards and one TD (70 yards on six carries vs. USF previous high). He entered the game with a total of 96 rushing yards on the season.
- RB Brock Bolen finished with a career-high 115 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. His 55 yard run in the first quarter was the longest of his career.
- C Eric Wood made his team-high 37th straight start at center.
- U of L's senior class finished with the second best four-year record ever for the Cardinals, producing a (38-11) mark. Top Five: 41-9 / 2006; 39-11 / 2007; 38-13 / 2004; 36-14 / 2005; 36-15 / 2003.

- U of L's 41 points were the most Rutgers has surrendered this year and the most since allowing 41 points to West Virginia on Dec. 2, 2006. The 477 yards the Cardinals gained were the most Rutgers has yielded this season and the Scarlet Knights most since allowing 679 yards to Arizona State on Dec. 27, 2005 in the Insight Bowl.
- The Cardinals produced 240 rushing yards against Rutgers, its most in seven games (since gaining 247 yards at North Carolina State).
- U of L trailed by 18 points twice in the game (28-10 and 35-17).
