Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
Both teams played a little sluggish at times. It was not easy for them to travel from BYU to here. Playing back-to-back games is very difficult. We did what we had to do. As Bill Russell says the only that statistic that matters is the `W' and we got the `W' so we are happy about that.
(On David Padgett) "This was the second time in a week he's banged his knee, he missed a lot of practice last week and banged again. It swells up when it gets banged on. Anytime he gets banged it flares up like that. I think he will be fine by time we get to Las Vegas. Its not an injury it is just a bruise."
"Terrance Farley only played seven minutes tonight, but they were the best seven minutes anybody played. Although Earl Clark won the MVP of the game on our point system, Terrance Farley was definitely the best player on the court for minutes. I am just sorry I only played him for 7 minutes."
(On the Las Vegas trip) "I think if you look at schedules and see how many colleges at the major level are playing a true road game, I think you can count them on one hand. I haven't seen too many. We did this to try and make ourselves tougher. If I had my druthers right now I wouldn't do it. I did it for a reason. I thought Tello (Palacios) would be here and David Padgett would be healthy. So we're going to play a true road game against a very tough basketball team. These 3 games are against teams that are outstanding. BYU is a nightmare to defend, UNLV is very difficult at the defensive end, and North Carolina is North Carolina so it's going to be quite a test. We didn't play bad but we can't play those teams like we played these two games."
Jackson State Head Coach Tevester Anderson
"I thought we played well early on, but as the game went along, I thought we got a little fatigued and we got our big guys in foul trouble and naturally we need then to be successful."
"We played more zone in the second half because we were in foul trouble. In the first half we played little zone and more man because of the foul trouble situation."
"I think Louisville is an outstanding team and to play them as close as we did in the first half and at the end of the second half. I think it shows that we are improving as a basketball team. I give those guys credit because they are an outstanding basketball team."
