Louisville Notes
- U of L allowed Pitt 270 yards in total offense, the Cardinals' best defensive effort of the year (271 vs. Murray State the previous low for a U of L opponent) and the fewest Pitt has produced in a game this season (288 at Virginia was the previous Panther low). Over the last two games, U of L opponents have gained an average of just 287.5 yards a game (575 total, including 305 by Connecticut last week).
- QB Brian Brohm moved into fourth place on the school's single-season list for touchdown passes with 26 with a pair of scoring strikes today. Pitt had allowed just six passing touchdowns this season entering the game. Brohm has thrown two or more touchdown passes on seven occasions this season. After completing 21-of-30 passes for 236 yards today, he became the second player in BIG EAST history to throw for more than 9,000 yards in league play. He has 9,161 passing yards in his career. Ken Dorsey of Miami (1999-2002) holds the league record with 9,565.
- With 63 yards receiving this afternoon, WR Harry Douglas passed J.R. Russell (2,619 yards) and into third place on the school's all-time list with 2,644 career yards. Douglas moved up to fourth in career receiving yards in the BIG EAST Conference, 359 yards behind league career leader Dietrich Jells of Pitt.
- WR Harry Douglas caught a first-quarter touchdown pass from Brian Brohm -- the 14th of his career, which places him ninth on the school's all-time list.
- WR Mario Urrutia returned to action after missing three games with an injury. He caught four passes for 37 yards. He has now caught a pass in 21 straight games in which he has has played.
- C Eric Wood made his team-high 34th straight start at center.
- G Brian Roche made his first collegiate start at offensive guard.
- In his first extensive action of the season, RB Bilal Powell rushed for a career highs of four carries for 25 yards.
- CB Rod Council started his 23rd straight game at cornerback -- the longest current streak on the Cardinals' defense.
- Peanut Whitehead recorded a career-high two sacks
- The Cardinals are now 7-4 all-time against Pitt and have won the last seven meetings between the two schools.
- Louisville is 3-1 all-time at home against Pittsburgh.
- The Cardinals snapped their two-game losing streak at home.
- The crowd of 34,792 was the fifth sellout in as many games for the Cardinals this season and the 18th straight sellout in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
- On Homecoming Day for U of L, Divya Kondaveeti (biology major) was named homecoming queen while Rudy Spencer (political science and communications major) was selected as the homecoming king. James A. Patterson was recognized as the U of L Alumnus of the Year.
Pitt Notes
- Game captains for the Panthers are junior offensive guard C.J. Davis (offense), junior linebacker Scott McKillop (defense) and junior wide receiver Austin Ransom (special teams).
- Pitt's series record vs. Louisville drops to 4-7, dating back to 1976. Sophomore right guard John Bachman earned his first career start in place of the injured Joe Thomas.
- Aaron Berry's second quarter interception marks the second of his career. His other INT was last week against Cincinnati. Berry's interception on the 27 yard line set up Pitt's first score of the game. TE Darrell Strong's 27-yard second quarter touchdown pass to LeSean McCoy is the second of his career. Last season, Strong connected with LaRod Stephens-Howling on a 30-yard score against The Citadel.
- LeSean McCoy's 27-yard touchdown reception marked the first of his career. The freshman has now scored 11 TDs this season (10 rushing). PK Conor Lee added to his record-holding consecutive point after touchdown total with Pitt's two TDs. He currently has 68.
- Rashaad Duncan's blocked field goal attempt on Louisville's Art Carmody in the third quarter, gives Pitt four blocked kicks on the year, which is the most since the 2003 season (4). The blocked kick was the first of Duncan's career.
- LeSean McCoy's seven-yard TD in the fourth quarter was his 10th rushing TD this season (11 total), putting him just two away from tying Tony Dorsett's freshman rushing TD record of 12 in 1973.
- McCoy's 120 yards marks his fifth 100-yard rushing game this season, tying him with Curvin Richards with five 100-yard games in 1988 as a freshman. Tony Dorsett holds the Pitt record with nine rushing TDs in 1973.
