
Pitino Reviews the Cards' First Week of Pre-Canada Practice

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino, junior forward Juan Palacios and sophomore guard/forward Terrence Williams met with members of the media on Wednesday afternoon to review the Cardinals' first week of practices in preparation for their upcoming exhibition games in Ottawa, Canada.
The Cardinals will depart Louisville for Ottawa on Sept. 1 and will play their first game the following evening (Sept. 2) at Carleton University at 8 p.m. U of L will play at the University of Ottawa on Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. before closing out its Canadian competition with a game against Laurentian University on Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at Carleton's 2,500-seat Raven's Nest gymnasium. The team will return to Louisville following the game. Carleton has won four straight Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) National Championships, including last season when the Ravens posted a 32-7 record, including exhibitions.
It was also announced on Wednesday that the first two games in Canada will be broadcast on WHAS 840 AM in Louisville, while the third game will be available on WKRD 790 AM in Louisville. All three radio broadcasts will include a 90-minute pre-game show as well as post-game show.
Prior to departing for the trip, the Cardinals will practice as a team from Aug. 22-31. It is the first international trip for a U of L basketball team since competing in the Suntory Ball event in Tokyo, Japan in 1981.
