Louisville, Ky. - It's the two-week mark of camp and you can tell it's the "dog days". Players are tired of hitting the same people and they are ready to start the game plan for UK. Friday's practice was short, just about an hour because the team was going to the 2006 Cardinal Football Kickoff Luncheon at the Convention Center.
They conducted a brief workout in shorts and shoulder pads. The team just went through a couple of individual drills and team stuff before being excused to get ready for the luncheon.
You can tell the season is getting closer when the luncheon is here. Everyone is excited and the players know its getting closer to kickoff time. About 1,600 Cardinal fans packed the Convention Center to get a brief look at the players and hear coach Petrino address the crowd.
Coach talked about how hard the players were working and how great it was to see all the fans at practice. He spoke for about 15 minutes before turning it over to the captains. The captains asnwered a couple of questions about camp and some personal stuff.
After the luncheon, the team boarded the buses and returned to the complex for more meetings and a walk-thru later on.
Saturday is the last day of camp before the team breaks for the start of classes on Monday. The team will be off Sunday and Monday before hitting the field on Tuesday afternoon after their classes.
