SOUTH BEND, Ind. - - The University of Louisville softball team finally started BIG EAST tournament play against St. John's. The Red Storm took an early 1-0 lead in the first, but Louisville had two runners on with no outs in the bottom of the first when the game was halted. The game will resume Saturday at 1 p.m.
St. John's struck in the top of the first when Tami Hill delivered a leadoff single, took second on Megan Oliver's sacrifice hit and scored on a single by Lauren Lupinetti's single.
The Cardinals were mounting their own attack in the home half of the inning when Leslie Garland led off with a single and Candi Hicks walked to bring Courtney Moore to the plate. Moore had a 1-0 count when the game was called because of heavy rain.
With the forecast showing rain the rest of the day, all games were postponed until Saturday at 1 p.m.
