The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 33-ranked Indiana Sunday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind.

I thought we played very hard today," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach. "IU will probably finish in the Top 25 and they are, by far, the best team we have played this year."

The Cardinals battled for the doubles point, with Suzanna Gracanin and Natalie Laszkowski taking the first match of the meet, beating Alba Berdala and Cecile Perton at No. 3. The freshman tandem of Bianca Gorbea and Natalia Baez bowed out 8-2 at No. 2 but the No. 1 team of Robyn White and Maria Klokotzky hung on until being tipped 8-5 by Sarah Batty and Laura McGaffigan.

U of L's No. 2 singles player, Robyn White, was playing just 36 hours after the unexpected and sudden death of her father. She courageously battled to a decisive 6-1, 6-4 win over McGaffigan to post a point for the Cardinals.

"It's just the gutsiest performance I have ever seen," said a visibly moved Davis. "The circumstances were incredibly difficult and she had an unbelievable performance. Her dad was our biggest fan."

Suzanna Gracanin had her second win of the match with a three-set win over Berdala posting scores of 6-0, 5-7 and 10-8 for the other point of the day.

"Suzanna Gracanin played a very good match and had a tremendous performance in both doubles and singles," said Davis. "Suzanna has been our most consistent performer and played at a high level all season. Today was no exception."

The Cardinals hurried back from Bloomington as they will face Wright State this evening at 7 p.m. for a rescheduled match at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
