LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino met with members of the media on Sunday to preview the Cardinals' second round NIT game against Clemson on Monday at Freedom Hall. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. ET and will be televised locally by WFTE.
The Cards are 19-12 overall and enter the game following a 71-54 win over Delaware State in an NIT first round game on Friday at Freedom Hall. Senior guard Taquan Dean led U of L with 21 points on seven three-point baskets against the Hornets. Clemson is also 19-12 overall following a 69-53 win over Louisiana Tech in the first round of the NIT on March 15.
The winner of Monday's game will advance to the NIT quarterfinals and will face the winner of Monday's Houston-Missouri State game in Springfield, Mo. Should the Cards defeat Clemson, they would host the NIT quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 22 at Freedom Hall with the winner advancing to Madison Square Garden for the NIT semifinals on March 28.
