
Women's Tennis Sweep Bearcats in BIG EAST Matchup

The No. 75-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team swept Cincinnati 7-0 in its first BIG EAST matchup Friday night at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals move their record to 8-1.
"This was a good win over Cincinnati. It was very decisive win in singles," said U of L head coach Greg Davis. "Coupled with the win over Southeast Missouri State this morning, this is the best back-to-back singles matches we have put together."
The Cardinals began the match by winning the doubles point. U of L won all three matches with the No. 3 pair of Suzanna Gracanin and Natalie Laszkowski having the most decisive win with an 8-1 win over Carling Arundel and Madison Reasoner.
U of L then cut through the singles lineup, winning all six matches. Maria Klokotzky took the No. 1 match over Elizabeth Young 6-0, 6-1. Robyn White finished off Lindsay Willeford at No. 2 6-2, 6-0. Freshmen Bianca Gorbea and Natalia Baez won at No. 3 and No. 6 respectively. Stephania Velazquez stepped in at No. 5 to win 6-0 ,6-over Arundel. Suzanna Gracanin won 6-1, 6-1 over Jill Klauck to take the No. 4 spot.
The Cardinals swing back into action against Southern Miss on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
