Louisville Coach Rick Pitino
"It's very tough playing an exhibition after a regular season game. We got a lot out of this tonight because we got a chance to play Earl Clark and Derrick Caracter against a team that's going to run. They had a tremendous performance by their center with 22 rebounds and 21 points. That's an unbelievable performance. We did a lot of good things. One thing we didn't do was shoot free throws well. We missed 20 free throws. And still had our tempo going at 93 points. We had a great spurt there with those guys. We played excellent defense with our press. We had outstanding passing. We relied on the three-point shot a little too early in the game. When it doesn't happen early on, you have to do other things and we kept staying with that. Overall it was a good game and we got a lot out of it."
(On Derrick Caracter) "He played excellent. Derrick Caracter made three really bad fouls. He is trying to bang with the other guy and show that he weighed just as much as him. The do wigh the same amount. So there was no reason to pick up those fouls. In a battle like that, you've got to get them in good way and he didn't get them. You can't let somebody else go to it with the fouls just by trying to play physical."
(On Earl Clark) "He's a good basketball player. He's just got to learn offensive sets and defensive sets and where to go. He has good energy. He has very good basketball instincts. Where he struggles is trying to learn what we're doing. It's all new to him. He's a great kid and he works hard, it'll happen for him. He's got to pick it up a little better than he's been picking it up."
(On Terrence Williams) "He is the guy that was getting getting people the ball because he is 6-6 and can get into the into lane and that's what we need him to do. He needs to do a better job rebounding the ball. We've got to get 1's, 2's and 3's to rebound. They are leaking out so much because they want to go on this newfound tempo we have. They can't do it too early. They've got to get in there and dig it out. Once we secure it, they've got to spring down."
(On Brandon Jenkins) "He played excellent. He's a great athlete. He doesn't have athleticism back, but it's coming. He'll get it back quicker than David Padgett because his injury is just about over."
(On the freshmen) "We have four excellent ones. They have to grow together because you can make an impact with freshmen. Look at what Pitt did last year. They made an impact but they weren't necessarily stars."
(On Dayton) "It's going to be a real tough road game coming up. It's going to be interesting game. Dayton showed they can play fast and slow. It will be a tough game, a great test. As you can see with Caracter, he has a lot of work ahead of him. He has unbelievable hands, and good footwork. He's getting a lot better."
Kentucky Wesleyan Coach Todd Lee
"We played good defense in the first half, we did good job. I thought we just work down. Their press wore down with their depth. We had too many turnovers in the second half. They shot a high percentage and with their depth, we just turned ball over too much in second half and gave up too many easy baskets."
"With our point guard fouling out, we could have taken him out, it was maybe it was a 15-16 point game at that time and I though maybe we could keep him in and get it back down, but once he fouled out, we struggled against their press. Overall they have a very deep team. They are hard to match up with. I was proud of the way we played."
(On Jeff Fahnbullen) "He takes up a lot of space. He's very strong. He's got great hands. He's a little like Derrick Caracter in that you can't move him and when he gets his hands on the ball, nobody can take it away from him. For him to come in and got 22 and 21 it's pretty amazing against their big front line."
