Brandon Jenkins scored 11 points and Jonathan Huffman added 10 for the Cardinals, who pulled away in the second half for their second win in as many days. Louisville won its season-opener 100-87 over Northwestern State on Saturday.
Louisville freshman forward Derrick Caracter, who must sit out the team's first three games while serving an NCAA suspension for taking a loan from a family friend in the summer of 2005, struggled after dazzling in Louisville's previous exhibition game against Georgetown College.
Caracter -- who has lost nearly 50 pounds in the last four months -- picked up three quick fouls after entering the game. He finished with six points, three rebounds and two assists before fouling out early in the second half.
Jeff Fahnbulleh led the Panthers with 22 points, but Kentucky Wesleyan, a Division II program located in Owensboro, couldn't keep up after trailing 36-28 at the half.
The Cardinals opened the second half with a 24-6 run fueled by a defense that forced 23 turnovers, leading to 33 points.
The wide margin allowed the Cardinals to substitute liberally in the final minutes. All 15 Louisville players who saw action scored. Louisville center David Padgett, recovering from offseason knee surgery, did not play.
The Cardinals (1-0) play Dayton in Cincinnati on Friday.
