
Petrino Previews Thursday's BIG EAST Showdown with West Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville football head coach Bobby Petrino, junior quarterback Brian Brohm, sophomore center Eric Wood and sophomore defensive tackle Earl Heyman met with members of the media on Thursday to preview the upcoming BIG EAST home showdown with West Virginia. The Cards and Mountaineers will meet on Thursday (Nov. 2) at 7:30 p.m. ET at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
The Cards enter the game at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in BIG EAST play after a 28-13 road win over Syracuse on Oct. 21, while the Mountaineers are 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference following their 37-11 win at Connecticut on Oct. 20.
Cards Ranked Fifth in the Polls, Fifth in BCS: UofL enters the WVU game ranked fifth in all three major polls (Associated Press Top 25, USA Today Coaches Poll and Harris Interactive Poll). The Cards are also ranked fifth in the 2006 Bowl Championships Series (BCS) standings released on Oct. 29.
"Black Out Thursday" at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium: The University of Louisville has designated the West Virginia game as "Black Out Thursday" at PJCS. All Cardinal fans are encouraged to wear black for this nationally televised game. The "official" black out t-shirt is available exclusively at the Neutral Zone for only $10.00 while supplies last.

Series Info: This is the eighth meeting between UofL and WVU with the Mountaineers holding a 6-1 advantage... WVU won last year's meeting 46-44 in triple overtime in the first meeting between the two schools as league members... UofL's lone win in the series was a 9-7 victory in 1990 in Morgantown... WVU won its only meeting with UofL in Louisville 30-21 in 1989.
