Women's Tennis Completes Round Robin Play at Vanderbilt

The University of Louisville women's tennis team completed match play in singles contests in the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt University.
All round robin singles and doubles draws will be played all Saturday, followed by coach-determined matches on Sunday.
"This is a very competitive field and an excellent opportunity for us to play people both in and out of our region," said Louisville head coach Greg Davis. "I was pleased with Natalia Baez in particular for her two wins."
Natalia Baez defeated Arizona State's Amanda Martin 7-6, 6-2 and then advanced to beat Marlene Chemin of Middle Tennessee. Bianca Gorbea beat Poona Koomireddi of Middle Tennessee 6-3, 6-3 but then fell to Vandy's Hannah Blatt. Robyn White fell to Vandy's Taka Bertrand 6-4, 6-1 but came back to beat Arizona State's Kady Pooler 7-6, 7-5. Maria Klokotzky fell 6-3, 6-1 to Vandy's Catherine Newman but did win her second match over Hola Sufi of Middle. Jo-Ann Van Aerde lost to Florida International's Priscilla Castillo but won her second match over Middle's Elvira Yusopova.
