LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Brandon Jenkins scored a career-high 31 points to lead No. 10 Louisville to a 81-58 win over UC Davis on Monday night.
Jenkins was 11-of-13 from the field, including 7-of-9 from 3-point range as the Cardinals (13-2) cruised in their final non-conference game of the season despite playing without leading scorer Taquan Dean.
David Padgett scored 14 points and Terrence Williams added eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Louisville.
Kyle Brucculeri led the Aggies (4-10) with 13 points, but UC Davis, a provisional member of Division I, was simply overmatched against the Cardinals.
With Dean watching from the end of the Louisville bench in a black suit while resting a sprained ankle, Jenkins ably filled in as Louisville's go-to guy.
Left corner. Right corner. In the lane. On the break. Whatever Jenkins threw up seemed to find its way in the basket.
Jenkins passed his previous career-high of 20 - set less than a month ago in a win over Middle Tennessee State - with a 3-pointer that gave the Cardinals a 20-point lead early in the second half.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino hoped to use his team's last non-conference game of the season to create a little chaos with the press.
While Louisville didn't exactly cause the Aggies to panic - UC Davis turned it over 16 times, just above its season average - the Cardinals were able to push the tempo and get out on the break with ease.
Louisville shot 55 percent from the field, including 67 percent in the first half, to improve to 82-3 under Pitino when scoring more than 80 points.
Louisville forward Chad Millard, who became sick on the team's trip home from Providence on Saturday, missed his first game of the year.
The Cardinals host No. 12 Pittsburgh on Sunday.
