Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
"Obviously we didn't play particularly well in the first half. If I had to pinpoint one thing it would be what we were doing against the triangle. I didn't do a good job coaching to attack it we did a much better job in the second half. We did silly things with our turnovers about seven times it was just very poor passes. Overall our offensive scheme against what they were doing was my fault as a coach. We made our corrections at halftime and did a better job in the second half."
"You have to attack it a certain way and we were turning the ball over, not forcing turnovers. You can't turn it over against a team that has no fear at all on what shots they are going to take. We did a much better job in the second half but when you give up a lot of threes, they can stay in the game and they made 10 threes."
"I think we had a better offensive scheme in the second half. We didn't attack them properly. We were really careless, which is something we haven't been with the ball. Even Taquan who normally is not like that was really careless. I don't think we played very well in the first half. We didn't have a really good day of practice yesterday. The second half, we reacted much better offensively."
"We are behind defensively I don't think it's the players fault. We have only been together (with all players) for five days now. We haven't even worked on our presses. We have not been able to work, we have not had David, Tello and Brian Johnson to work with. We were playing five or six weeks with Terrance Farley, Jonathan Huffman and Perrin and even Chad wasn't playing. Now those guys are hardly playing and we have to start from scratch."
"I think they are doing the best job they can do. I think that they have so many things to learn. T-Will is the most advanced but they all have things to learn. Like Andre has to learn that when he drives he has to learn from 90 percent bounce passes and not lob passes. He has to learn the game from square one but he is going to be very good some day. T-Will is physically the most advanced. They are all very good, they are going to be terrific some day."
Chicago State Head Coach Kevin Jones
"Our game plan worked for the first half. I knew he would go in the lockerroom and rally get on his guys. And in the second half, they picked up the tempo. We went away from what we were doing in the first half. They really hurt us on the boards. I didn't get anything out of my inside guys. I have been hurting all year, I just don't have any inside threats as far as scoring and showing when we play against this level of competition. I thought our guys played hard and didn't quit. We made them use timeouts. I don't feel like the score was indicative of the game. A few shots here and there and it's a different score."
