Louisville - The University of Louisville practiced for the first time in the recently completed Trager Indoor Practice facility on Thursday.
The Cardinals conducted an hour and 15 minute workout in their new $8 million facility. The facility is 120-yard FieldTurf field and was fully serviceable.
Louisville worked its offense on one end and the defense on the other end and were able to do practice all phases on special team.
"I've been really amazed by Abel Construction and the speed in which they have built the Trager Center," said Vice President for Athletics Tom Jurich. "Nobody gave them much of a chance to substantially complete this facility at the time so swiftly. I had friends in the construction business telling me this spring that they didn't see any way possible that we could occupy this building by Dec. 1, and there our team was practicing in it today."
Said head coach Bobby Petrino, "This is a great facility. I'm very thankful to a lot of people, especially the Trager Family and all of our donors who were responsible for this great facility. I know the energy went up a notch for our players as soon as they stepped into the facility."
The Cardinals will conduct a final walk through on Friday before departing for Connecticut. The Cardinals and Huskies will play Saturday at 7:45 p.m. on ESPN.
