Louisville Coach Rick Pitino
"We are athletically much more talented. There's no substitution for experience. We have been struggling with defense and rebounding. They run all the same sets as we do they just do it better. They have a good veteran basketball team and they should be good. Bellarmine got a lot of confidence and we got a lot of humility and that is a good thing. I am very disappointed in our fundamentals as always. They're players executed and we can't use youth as an excuse. This was great for us."
"I wouldn't have minded losing tonight, the fans might have but I wouldn't have. We're starting a walk-on but tonight was a blessing. Our defense has been our Achilles' heel. Our team last year was a very humble team. Dean and Jenkins know how important defense is, the other players are young and they are weak physically."
"Padgett will make a difference when he comes back tomorrow. He is an offensive threat. Tonight we had no production from the five spot."
Bellarmine Coach Scott Davenport
"Everybody in there was very proud of our effort but there was not one person in there that was satisfied. Everyone was happy how we represented the school and we are fortunate to come into this setting against this type of team and with the best coach in college basketball and the challenge to get better. We have a lot of room for improvement and long as they continue to recognized that we will get better and better. We are better as a basketball team so tomorrow we have to get better. I am very proud of them and they are proud of their effort and proud of their teammates. Our test is to get better on Saturday against Murray."
"Overall our execution was a typical first game. We responded to that in the right way. We did battle for 4- minutes. We played 10 four minute games. We have to learn that every possession counts. It's all about taking where you are and moving forward."
