Justine Landi, a 6-1 right side hitter from Coral Springs, Florida has signed a national letter-of-intent to continue her volleyball career at the University of Louisville. She is ranked No. 71 in Prep Volleyball's prestigious Top 100 Players.
"We like so many things about her. She is an all-around player and a good athlete with good ball control," said Leonid Yelin, head coach of the No. 7-ranked Louisville team. "She has a lot of setting experience and can cover several positions for us. But we are looking for her to be our rightside hitter, who will get the sets that typical rightsider would get as well as a more traditional setter when we might need one."
A senior at Coral Springs Charter School, in Coral Springs, Florida, she has been the team captain since the eighth grade. She played for her mother, Dee, for the past three years at CSCS. As a sophomore, she was named Second Team All-County. As a junior, her team advanced to the Regional Finals for the first time in school history, where they placed second in the Region. As a junior, she was named the Sun-Sentinel's "Super Six" as well as First Team All-County, and All-State Honorable Mention.
Landi plays for Boomers Volleyball Club and played on Boomers 17 Elite as an opposite and setter last year. She helped her team qualify for the National Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. This past summer she was selected for the YNT A2 Camp in Austin, Texas.
And excellent student, she is a member of the National Honor Society and ranked in the top ten in her class. She is an outstanding swimmer as well, qualifying for the Florida State Swim Meet for the 100-breaststroke, 200-freestyle relay, and 200-Individual Medley for the past three years.
Landi comes from an athletic family as both her parents attended the University of Central Florida where her mother was a two-time All-American basketball player and her father, Mike, was a football player.
"Justine has a great personality and volleyball is her passion. Her passion for sports comes from her athletic family and especially her mom," said Yelin. "It was a pleasure to recruit her. She will be a wonderful asset to our team. Recruiting a player the caliber of Justine is solid evidence that being ranked in the Top Ten gives you a step up in recruiting."
