LOUISVILLE, KY - Ohio State's Danielle Dietrich gathered her own rebound and scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute, as the 18th-ranked Buckeyes edged the University of Louisville 1-0 in soccer action Saturday at Cardinal Park. "I am extremely proud of our work ethic tonight," noted Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson. It was a tremendous team effort, and in a lot of ways we outplayed them in the first half, but could not convert," Ferguson added. The teams battled to a scoreless first half with the Cards outshooting the Buckeyes 6-5. Louisville had a handful of scoring chances in the first 45 minutes including a run by Jamie Craft down the right side in the 27th minute. Craft had beaten the OSU keeper but Craft's tough-angle shot was stopped by a Buckeye defender. The goal came on a corner that Dietrich initially put on net with a shot that was deflected by freshman keeper Tiffany Hansen. The rebound came right back to Dietrich and she converted her third goal of the season. The Buckeyes(2-2-0) ended up outshooting the Cards 14-11 in the match. Louisville was lead by Craft and Lauren Podvin who each had three shots. Ashley Garcia and Mandy Rost each had two shots with Hollie Minogue providing the other. Hansen made five saves on the night for the Cards. The match was televised on INSIGHT-2 in Louisville and can be seen on September 5th at 9:00 p.m. and September 6th at 8:30 p.m. The game was also featured on-line with Gametracker. All U of L home games will feature Gametracker this season. The Cards(2-1-0) will next host Evansville on Friday at Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free to all Cardinal home games.
