Louisville, Ky - The University of Louisville football team is ranked 24th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches and Associated Press polls released on Sunday.
The Cardinals received 128 points in the Coaches and 153 in the AP poll after a 52-21win over Army last Saturday. The win moved Louisville to 2-0 and travels to New Orleans to face Tulane on Saturday.
"We're honored to be included in the top 25," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "It's one of our goals that we've set for the season, but we want to be there in the final poll. We know we have to get better and take one game at a time. But this is great for our program and we just need to go out and take care of business.
The Cardinals reached the polls last season, breaking in at #24. This is the eighth appearance in the polls in Cardinal football history. The Cardinals were ranked in 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1993 , 1990 and 1972.
