DADE CITY, Fla. - Junior Brett Jones of the University of Louisville men's golf team finished in a tie for 11th as the Cardinals placed eighth at the Conference USA Golf Championship at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Guided by Adam Meyer's wire-to-wire lead, the No. 10 ranked TCU men's golf team turned in a final round score of 287 to claim its third straight Conference USA Tournament Meyer claimed medalist honors, following rounds of 68 and 69, Monday and Tuesday, with a three-under par, 69 on the final day for a tournament best 206, finishing 10 under par. The Horned Frogs finished with a tournament total of 859, winning by 12 strokes.
The Cards, who tied with Memphis for eighth place, shot 296 on Wednesday, finished with 898, just four strokes from fifth place.
Jones posted his best performance of the spring, carding 77-68-75=220 during the three days. Junior Charlie Woo, who was named third team All-Conference, placed 23rd, after shooting a pair of 73's on Tuesday and Wednesday. He finished with 223.
Sophomore Brent Holmes was tied for 33rd with 73-79-74=226, while Will Hanna ended the day in a tie for 46th place with 77-79-74=230. Senior Matt Bascom rounded out the Cardinal top five with a tie for 51st-place finish, shooting 78-78-75=231.
The Cardinals will close the regular season at the Michigan State Invitational on May 1-2.
