
Moore and Garrick Sweep C-USA Softball Honors

University of Louisville freshmen Courtney Moore and Kady Garrick swept Conference USA Softball Player of the Week honors for the period ending April 11. Moore was named C-USA Hitter of the Week for leading her team to a 5-0 record including a shutout sweep over DePaul and Garrick was named Pitcher of the Week for throwing two wins and posting an ERA of 0.64.
Moore, a freshman shortstop from Visalia, Calif., helped Louisville to a 5-0 record on the week, including a three-game shutout sweep of DePaul. She batted .467 over the stretch (7-for-15) with two home runs and one double. The rookie hit safely in each game and had a team-leading six RBI and .933 slugging percentage. Moore went 2-for-3 with a home run in the U of L's 8-1 win at Western Kentucky and 2-for-3 again in the Cards' 2-0 win over the Blue Demons. She currently leads the team with 36 RBI, a .585 slugging percentage and is third on the team with a .375 batting average.
Garrick, a freshman right-hander from Tucson, Ariz., led Louisville from the mound last week with two winning appearances including a shutout victory over conference foe DePaul on Friday. She went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA over the week. In 11 innings pitched, she allowed just one run, walked one batter and held her opponents to a .194 batting average. Garrick (15-4) currently boasts an ERA of 1.72 and leads the team with five shutouts.
The Cardinals (32-10) are first in the C-USA standings with a 13-2 league record and are currently in the midst of a school record 10 game winning streak. U of L will travel to the University of Houston to play the Cougars (28-16, 7-5) who are tied for fourth in the conference standings. The teams will play a doubleheader on April 17 at 2:00 p.m. and a single game on April 18 at 2:00 p.m.
