Six Cardinals Earn First Team All-Conference USA Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After finishing 8-0 in Conference USA action this season, six University of Louisville football players were named first team All-Conference USA in a vote by the league's coaches and media members.
Louisville placed a league-high six players on the All-Conference first team, finishing with 10 total selections. Three members of the Cardinals top-ranked offense dot the first team, highlighted by senior quarterback Stefan LeFors, the nation's leader in pass efficiency (185.4). LeFors has thrown for 2,403 yards and 18 touchdowns. Senior J.R. Russell is the league's leader in receptions with 67 for 909 yards and six touchdowns. Offensive Travis Leffew also earned first-team honors. Highlighting U of L's three defensive first team selections were senior linebacker Robert McCune, whose 105 tackles ranked fifth in C-USA and senior defensive Marcus Jones, who is second in sacks with 8.5 and senior Kerry Rhodes, who has a team-high five interceptions.
"I feel these players are very deserving all of the accolades they've received," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "We've had a great season and have accomplished quite a bit as a team. I'm very proud of the hard work and dedication our players have shown this season."
Earning second team honors were three offensive players in senior center Will Rabatin and juniors Eric Shelton and Jason Spitz. Both Rabatin and Spitz started all 11 games on the offensive front, while Shelton was the team's leading rusher with 862 yards and 19 touchdowns. Senior tight end Adam McCauley was honored as a third team member after recording 18 catches for 251 yards.
On the All-Freshmen team, quarterback Brian Brohm and kicker Arthur Carmody were honored by the league. Brohm, who played in 10 games, threw for 777 yards and five touchdowns, while completing 67.7 percent of his throws. Carmody, who was 11-of-14 on field goal attempts, broke the all-time NCAA record for consecutive PATs made with 72.
