Garcia Leads Red team to 101-89 Win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior forward Francisco Garcia produced 24 points, eight assists and five rebounds to lead the Red team to a 101-89 victory over the White squad in an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday morning in Cardinal Arena.
"Offensively, we did a pretty good job offensively for about the first 30 minutes of play," said U of L Coach Rick Pitino. "We need to catch up to last year's defense. Last year we had a much better mentality on defense and knew that we had to win with defense. We got a little tired in the second half because all of the guys were playing significant minutes."
A preseason All-America selection, Garcia hit six-of-nine shots from the field, including all three of this three-point shots, and made 9-of-11 free throws. Red teammates Larry O'Bannon and Taquan Dean added 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Energetic senior Otis George led the White team with 24 points and eight rebounds while sophomore guard Brandon Jenkins added 17 points and seven assists.
